Hi Mom!
Another week down and another transfer too!
So yesterday was transfer news! Elder Shaw and I will be staying here in Statesville. The other two Elders, Elder Swalberg and Elder Cordray, will be leaving. So this apartment will be a two Elder apartment. This will be the first time I will be in a two Elder apartment since I’ve been on my mission. I am honestly super excited! Elder Shaw and I are looking forward to the extra work especially after this last transfer.
But that’s not all… I’ve been called to be a district leader! 🤯 Haha, I’m a bit nervous but it is an excited nervous. In all honesty my greatest fear about being called to this position is to have it go to my head. But according to my father, if I’m aware of it it means I won’t have to worry about it. Plus it helps to have a companion that will help out. Also, I’m excited because I found out that Elder Dixon from my last apartment will be in my district! So that is dope!!!
Something crazy that happened this week is we met an older gentleman at walmart and set up an appointment to meet and talk about the gospel. It turned out that this guy was a notorious bible basher and was listed as a “do not contact” in our area book. Naturally, as two desperate Elders to teach anything, we looked forward to meet with him. When the time came Elder Shaw and I had agreed to not allow the conversation to get contentious and treated the whole situation as if it was just to get to know him. We show up to the appointment at the church building and this man had brought a friend. Seeing this, we said a prayer real quick as we pull into the driveway. Long story short, it was actually a super uplifting conversation. Every question asked was handled with civility. The situation felt like a podcast between good friends! It was so spiritually uplifting that the testimonies we shared actually prompted the older gentleman to ask us to commit him to read a chapter in the book of mormon! We have no idea if these guys will progress at all, but as long as we have time and the conversations never get contentious. We look forward to meeting again!
Anywho this week was pretty great, that same day we had two other teaching appointments. One with a lady we helped move and another with a less active member we hope to help out. All in all I am ending this week on with a really good feeling I cam only describe as peace that really has come from God! Haha, Love you all and hope you have a great week!
Till next time,
Elder Service
P.S. To explain a couple of the pictures. The one with the sign is out front of a Seventh Day Adventist church down the street from our apartment (another sign photo down!) And the other one is Elder Shaw after 2 hours of filming and editing a video for facebook 😂
