Hi Mom!
Can you believe it?! I turned one this week! (I promise I’m not falling asleep in that one photo Elder Bangerter just took the photo at just the right time 😉)
So, for my year mark I want to announce that my flight to Mexico is coming up fast! I got a flight itinerary and instructions to meet the Mexican Consulate in Salt Lake on the 30th. It is quite nerve wracking. The more I think about it the more exciting it is. I’m literally about to embark on a whole other mission for the next year! That will mean I will have had 3 different mission presidents. Wack right!? Haha. Anyway let’s talk about what I did this week.
So Elder Bangerter’s phone takes higher quality photos than mine so all of these are from him. We had quite a few members feed us this week. But one in particular was my brother’s 6th grade math teacher Mrs. (Sister) Cloward! It was pretty great. Nothing beats serving a mission on the other side of the country to find a teacher who lived in Utah haha! But like seriously I have made so many awesome connections with people here it’s going to be a tough transition to Mexico. But hey if I can find connections here in North Carolina I can find them in Querétaro Mexico!
Next up I want to let yall know this week Elder Bangerter and I said “se fue” to Satan and the fear he gives us while street contacting because we absolutely just sent it this week and talked with everyone. We actually found 3 people who are decently interested in hearing what we have to say! One of the guys were literally so unlikely, he was busy on the phone and trying to drive away but we stopped him, introduced ourselves, bore testimony, then exchanged information. It was the most high intensity moment on my mission. But we had a phone lesson with him on Saturday and he was blown away from the message of the restoration. He wanted to meet again!
I’ve been having some fun posting stories to my facebook account about hymns. Where I ask people to pick a number from 1-209 and I use that to pick a new hymn from the Spanish Hymn Book. There are like 100 less hymns in the Spanish book than the English one by the way.
I’d like to end my blog for today talking about that meme with the two missionaries and the angels. In English it says “Serving a mision isn’t a burden it’s a privilege.” Something I have learned while being out here on my mission is that other churches “missions” accomplish a lot of good in the world. Some bring a lot of people to the knowledge of the existence of God and teach the basics of who Christ is. But, they arent an LDS mission. Not by a longshot. Missions in all forms and from all different Churches usually bring the one serving closer to God. But an LDS mission has the capacity to really bring the missionary to God and his Son Jesus Christ. All from the power of the Holy Ghost. I believed in God before I left on my mission. Now I know there is a God. And I know there is a Christ. And I have felt the piercing influence of the Holy Ghost. There is no other work that can teach human being the reality of divinity than pure service of this great work of gathering more souls to know God and His Son and the Holy Ghost. I leave that with you in the name of Jesus Christ Amen. Love you all!
Till next time, Elder Service
