Hi Mom!
We took an hour and a half bus ride to Manuel Doblado. It was pretty much desert and aloe farms all the way there. It only took us like 2 hours to walk around the whole city. We knocked on doors of members, grey dots, and recently taught. Only had like two people open up though. Which is fine because we just received a pretty sweet referral the other day! He wants a book of Mormon!
Anyway we got to baptise the Sanchez Muñoz family on Saturday (and Sunday… Ill get to that in a second.) We have really grown a sweet sweet friendship with these three. The youngest sister is literally my favorite human. Every lesson we would have she would have like a dozen really good questions. I started teasing her by giving her fist bumps then high fives over and over. Because she just cant resist jaja. The second oldest, the only boy, is so smart. I remember reading the story of Christ’s baptism, and he immediately caught on that we need to be baptised by immersion. Then the oldest sister, whew, she is a spiritual power house. She is supporting her two siblings while her father works in the states. Throughout the entirety of our time teaching them. She would make sure her siblings would follow through with our commitments. She is the coolest!!
The youngest two were super excited for their baptism. The eldest sister was too. However, she was really nervous. When we got into the font she told me her name and I baptised her no problem. However, after the baptism she confessed to my companion and I that her real name wasn’t the one she told me. We looked at her kinda shocked. My companion told her we will need to re-do the baptism. But we reassured her that it isn’t a problem. Simply that God’s kingdom, is a kingdom of order. So we planned to meet sunday morning at 9am to do the baptism again so that her and her siblings could be confirmed together. So my companion and I got to the church at 7am sunday morning to fill the font. The baptism went swimmingly. It was truly a spiritual experience. All three were confirmed and all three had big ol smiles on their faces!
We also found out that they love Marvel movies and comics. So today Im gonna buy them some things for christmas. So excited. Then we celebrated the baptism with pombasos. Which are basically fried scones filled with stuff. This time it was potatoes. So friggin good!
Friday night we had literally the “littest” christmas party I have ever been a part of. It was so lit that the power went out jaja. Only for like 30 minutes, but it was still a great start to an awesome party. We had all kinds of tamales and ponche. A type of fruit punch made with all kinds of fruits and a stick of sugar cane. It was so good. 100% would drink again.
Anyways that was pretty much our week. To end I would like to announce that we will be having an in person Christmas get together as a mission on the 23rd!!! I am so excited and I’ll. be sure to add it to my weekly next week!
Till next time, FELIZ NAVIDAD!
