Hi Mom!
and Dad
and Avery
and Ethan
and Owen
and Maya!
I’m dedicating this post to my family. Who, I have had the privilege of thinking a lot about this week. Since President Nelson’s message of gratitude, my first post was my family. And not a day went by that I wish I hadn’t posted it already. You guys would have been my first pick for gratitude every day. I got lucky and thought of a loophole (love ya womb mate?). SO! I’m going to post about yall individually right now!
To my Mom,
Mom, I cannot express in words how grateful I am for you but I will try.
Before my mission you always asked if you were a good mom. And I want to tell you, yes, yes you are. Not a day goes by that I say to myself “my mom taught me that”. Not a day goes by that I think “wow I’m so glad my mom sat me down and told me about this”. Not a day goes by mom, that I tell myself “I love my mom” Cuz it’s true!
Love, Isaac
To my Dad,
Thank you for teaching me what it means to be of Service.
Those long and grueling nights painting soccer fields will never be forgotten. It was witnessing your shining example day in and day out. That made me keep going. It was seeing you come home after endless hours of non-stop WORK. It was seeing you work so hard yet you never let it stop you. All in the name of serving others. I dedicate my testimony of Service to you, dad. I am so grateful for this precious gift.
Love, Isaac
To Avery
I’m gonna be honest, I never had the older brother I wanted. But sure got the big brother I needed.
Thank you Avery, you probably don’t know this but growing up you were my role model. Especially in soccer, I will forever cherish the times I got to not only watch you play but also play along side you. Its kinda cheesy but I chose the number five jersey because I thought it looked good on you.
Everyone else is gonna feel left out for this one but another thing I’m grateful for from you is my taste in music. I can remember you used to hate driving us to school. But I bet you didn’t know I thought a lot about you like every other drive. And the music that was playing stuck with me. There are still songs that play that remind me of you. I am so grateful for the big brother I got. And would never trade you for anyone else.
Love, Isaac
To Ethan,
Ethan, I am grateful for what you have taught me about love. Most importantly how love despite the trial.
I felt your love for soccer when you blew both your knees. I felt your love for a kitten when you cared for Oscar. I felt your love for family when you lost your best friend. Ethan, I learned from all of these experiences that life is hard. I want you to know that when I see you I see my big brother who has been what I can only describe as hell and back and still you still choose to love. And I am grateful for that. I love you Ethan, and I am so thankful for you.
Love, Isaac
To Owen,
Bro, you know I love you. And I cannot imagine my life without you dude.
You are with me every step of the way. And I mean every step. There is no substitute for the bond that we share. *air hug. There is nothing I can say to you that you already know. And that is the sign of true friendship. There is no other person I would rather have growing up. Thank you Owen, thank you.
Love, Isaac
To Maya
Saving the best for last. Maya, I know life is gonna seem hard and awkward right now. But if there is anyone who can get through it it is you.
I am greatful for your natural sense to care for others. I can remember one halloween you where so excited to get some candy. And yet as soon as we got home you dumped most of your candy into our own candy bowl. Maya I want you to know I still see this cute little girl who cares so deeply for others. Dont loose that.
Love, Isaac
Alright everyone, that’s enough crying on my end. I want you all to know I am so grateful for all of you. You all have taught me some pretty important things.
I am a missionary so hear comes my commitment to all of you. Think about what you are grateful for about someone in our family and write it out. Let’s keep spreading this love on into christmas.
Till next time…
