Hola Mom!
TRANSFER NEWS WAS THIS SUNDAY AND GUESS WHAT! I’m finally being transferred to a Spanish area!!!! After nine months of serving in english areas with my half baked language studies I am so stoked to finally be going and using Español. Now let me tell you why I’m excited!
So for the last three weeks I have had this growing feeling that I need to push myself in Spanish. It started with a visit with our ward mission leader were he said “maybe if you practice your Spanish God will send you to Mexico.” Now I don’t think it works quite like that but in a way I believe it!
This last transfer has taught me the power of effort. Especially effort righteously applied. I began to say in my prayers “please help me use my Spanish”. Lo and Behold, a week later a hispanic family stopped us after Church because they wanted us to visit them. Immediately I took this as a sign. So I set up the appointment and met them that Wednesday. Then while at the lesson we set up to meet every Monday! Haha Elder Shaw is going to need to work on his Spanish.
Since this was our last week before transfers we took a picture together as a district. From left to right we have; Elder Thayne, Elder Rummler, Sister Olpin, Sister Arnett, Yours truly, Elder Shaw. Since I am leaving Statesville I am no longer a District Leader. But I’ll tell you what, being a District Leader was a great experience. For those of you who know me, I am a bit of a worrier. I always over think any task I am given. But when it came to District Leader duties I could not have been more focused. I know for a fact God supported me as a leader. There have just been experiences where I was planning and an idea would enter my mind that was not my own. Past experiences and inspiration would just come out of nowhere. It was so cool and is something I will never forget!
Anyway! This week we needed to make a Facebook video for our zone’s missionary page (Come Unto Christ – Hickory) So those sweet pictures of us with hats is our “costumes” for the video. Also, we took goofy photos of ourselves with our tech specialists who have been a huge help with working on Facebook. Shout out to Sister Tagatiuli and Sister Montgomery!
Next week is prolly gonna blow my mind so stay tuned for that haha.
Till next time,
Elder Service
