Hola Madre!
So, I’ve decided I wanted to include a few stories from my daily journal today. So get ready, half of these were written moments before going to bed so there is no saying what is about to happen.
So the earliest one I want to add comes from October 3. Directly following General Conference. It says;
” General Conference Saturday sessions were awesome! But today and especially this morning has already been answers to prayer. One of the bigger things that has been on my mind is the thought of marriage. So one of my questions has been who should I marry. In one of his talks President Nelson got serious for a few seconds and said ” Find a companion that you can take to the temple.” I’ve heard this said countless times but today in that moment the spirit spoke to me. All I know is I need to marry someone who is rich spiritually and I can respect and receive respect back. It, to me now, is of utmost importance to find a worthy QUEEN!
P.S. to my future wife: I love you 😊”
I really liked that one, I wrote it literally seconds before going to bed. I was so tired and honestly I could barely read my own handwriting. I’m definitely not looking for a queen now but I’d be crazy if I didn’t keep my eyes open haha.
This next one comes from October 9th. It says;
” This has been a great week. We have been looking for a new apartment for a while now and I think we have found it. Brand new tiles, cabinets, doors, and paint job. [I FORGOT TO TO MENTION THE BRAND NEW BATHROOM! Nice bathrooms are pure gold out here!] Plus it is in the middle of Centro. So ya, we have only a few loose ends to tie up (like a broken window) before we can officially leave. But we should be good by the end of the week. We found quite a few people this week that I’m really excited about. We also taught a less active family a pretty dope lesson. I led the lesson. With some language clean up from Elder Rojas. Anyways, we then somehow got onto the topic of ghosts and the supernatural. Which lasted for a good hour. I could only understand like maybe 70% but is was a riot seeing everybody tell their scary stories haha.”
That was a fun day, I added that one for my dad cuz I know he likes Ghosts 😉.
Anywho it turns out I was a bit of a slacker this week for writing in my journal so I’ll try and fill in the details. Saturday night we went to a Birthday party for a member’s 21 year old son. That was a lot of fun. But before the party we were trying to have a lesson with a filly of 7 that we have on date to be baptize. But the only ones that were home were all the younger kids. So we just talked and answered any questions. But I specifically remember feeling prompted to say a prayer before we left. So we did. I don’t know if the prayer actually did anything but I made sure to have everyone in the house be present for it. So I really do hope it made an impression.
I have been reading and really studying the new testament lately. Paired up with the institute manual, the book of acts is actually pretty sick. I have really grown an appreciation for the early organization of the Church. And it has been a real testimony builder of how we are organized the same way today.
I honestly can’t think of much else to say, other than we mostly have just been calling a lot of people hoping somebody will be willing to talk. Which surprisingly has been pretty successful. My companion and a bunch of other missionaries are going to Irapuato to get the first dose of the vaccine. So hopefully by the end of the month we will be allowed to leave our apartments and talk to some people in person. I’ve got a feeling when that happens the work here is about to pop off. For about a year and a half missionaries have been stuck inside, so when the doors open we are all going to be itching to go out!
Till next time,
Elder Service
