Hi Mom!
HAPPY NEW YEARS! Can you believe it! It’s 2022. Your son comes home this year!!! Well 7 months since the 2nd.
So lets get right into it. Elder Purdy and I were watching “Heaven is Real” the night of the 31st while we waited for 12pm. We ended up celebrating new years on our roof. We got to see a lot of balasos, I mean shoot outs, dang this spanish translator 🤦♂️. I mean fireworks 😉. It was a good time. Then we finished our movie and went to bed.
Also! The day of the 31st was when we celebrated the birthday of a member in our ward. His family took us to Rockstar Burger. Which is basically just an american rock band themed burger joint. All the burgers were named after artists or bands. I got the green day burger. It was bien rico.
That same day we took a ride back with the older sister and her husband. And their car broke down! We were still a good 20 minutes from home. So we got out and started pushing. We pushed the care off the road and close to a auto shop, that was closed, and a convenience store. So we go in and buy some water cuz we think the engine overheated. While there I decided to buy this “Cebadrink” which is apparently like the state of Guanajuato’s state drink. It comes with a carbonation and sugar packet. Because part of the fun is dumping the stuff in. We got a video of it. 10/10 will try again.
Thursday, (sorry im all over the place. I’m writing as I remember things) we tried to host an english lesson for the members in our ward. To try and help them invite their friends and participate in missionary work. My comp and I worked hard all week planning a lesson. Then, nobody showed up🤦♂️. I ended up teaching Elder Solano english and found out he actually understands quite a bit. Just struggles with pronunciation and context. But he gets most of the words. I was so proud of him.
Also, Elder Caballero spent most of the week planning and calling people in Manuel Doblado. Because it is an hour a way we prefered to be ready to go. We actually were able to get in contact with 7 people who wanted to meet with us! I won’t be there to enjoy the fruits of our labors because…
Sunday night we found out transfer news! I was called to serve in San Juan. Which once again is about an hour bus ride outside of the main city. But this time the main city is Querétaro. I literally got yeeted across the mission. In total I traveled about 6 hours and spent about 500 pesos. But I’m here, and it turns out my new companion, Elder Reading, knows Ethan Mouser! It has been pretty awesome getting to know him. I’m in another 4 Elder apartment with two other Americans and one Mexican. Im one of the older missionaries at 17 months. Beaten only by 4 months by the Mexican Elder.
I’m excited for the next transfer and for the opportunity I have to get to know this area. Hopefully we can do some real good here and help a lot of people find peace in this crazy place we call earth. Anyways. That is pretty much a rundown of the week. I was very sad to leave San Pancho. Elder Caballero was a good comp and I’m gonna miss bunking with my MTC comp Elder Purdy. But I really am looking forward to being here. The Elders here are great and I’ve heard a lot of good things about the area. Plus! I found out there is another small town that is an hour away from our house! I have another Manuel doblado!!!
Till next time,
Elder Service.
