Hi Mom!
Hi from a mile high in the sky! I just left Salt lake. We had some Visa work we needed to do so I was only there for like 3 hours Haha.
Anyways this week has flown by. Unfortunately we had several lessons drop. But we didn’t let that stop us because we decided to dedicate our lost time to finding people. We hit so many apartments, streets, and Facebook DMs. That literal miracles were witnessed! So much about just being out going within this week. We prayed for miracles and not 10 minutes later we are writing down 3 phone numbers and having a gospel conversation with a less active member from Honduras! Anyways moral of this week is expect miracles then act because faith is a principle of action. And faith produces miracles.
My flight to Salt Lake started early Monday morning. We jumped on a Delta airplane for a 4 hour flight. We left at 7:44am and arrived at around 9:30am (time travel is pretty sweet). Hoped into a taxi for the first time! Haha pretty sweet stuff. While in Salt Lake I got to see all the Elders from my MTC district. It was way nice to see them all in person again. Then we raced back to the airport for our 1 pm flight back to NC. But it was delayed because of the wicked Hurricane that’s making it’s way across the South East. So we partook of our first Cafe Rio in over a year! That’s right the East Coast is missing out on the divine food of Cafe Rio. Anyway, today was a blast and I can’t wait to serve with Elder Purdy (Mtc comp) in Querétaro in just two weeks!
I also had the privilege of giving my departing testimony at my last Zone Conferance in the Carolinas. I guess I was in shock that it was actually happening because when they called all the missionaries up to give there talks I forgot to get up so I actually gave my testimony in between President and Sister Brown Haha. Talk about hard act to follow. Anyway, by divine intervention I had felt inspired in the middle of the night to a week prior to write a farewell talk. This talk came to me while I was sleeping so I’ll share what I wrote;
” ‘In order to teach truth you need to have meaningful experiences with truth yourself.’ Truths like obedience, the importance of ministering, faith, repentance, baptism, gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.
There is one truth that I have had a meaningful experience with. And that is our divine destiny and identity as litteral children of our father in heaven. I know that every one of you are a child of God. My favorite hymn is and forever will be I am a Child of God. Because it lays out the fundamental truth of our existence. I know that we have a loving Heavenly Father. I know that he lives. I know that Jesus Christ lives. And I know that this is the only gospel, the only plan in the whole universe that can give use hope and peace. So implore you guys to seek for meaningful experiences with truth and you will have the power to teach with love and authority. I say these things in the name of our living savior and elder brother Jesus Christ Amen.”
Love you all and pretty soon you will be seeing me in Mexico!
Till next time,
Elder Service
